Video: Best Skincare Tips For Over 60

I’m Evelyn Flaharty, Co-Owner Aging Evolution.  I’m over sixty and am often asked what is my secret to young, healthy, ageless skin.  Naturally my genes play a significant part but I have noticed that as I have gotten older my skin appears to be getting younger.  I attribute this to my skin care regimen and diet.

I have always taken good care of my skin.  My daily cleansing routine started before I became an adolescent.  My mother used Ponds Cold Cream and naturally introduced me to the product to use as my daily cleaner.  I enjoyed the way it made my face feel silky smooth afterwards not dry and rough like soap.  Later on I recall using Oil of Olay. Some of my favorite products are available from Lancôme, Vitashield and Eminence.  These products tend to be a little more costly.  Yet if you look in my cabinet you will still find a jar of Olay Regenerist.  Hey, if it works why give it up.

Later in life I commenced incorporating professional facials.  These treatments broaden the depth of my cleaning routine.  I always look forward to my visits to the spa.  It’s my time to relax and allow the pros to design a treatment that best addresses my problem areas.  Yes I have problems areas.  Sun damage is my biggest issue.  If I knew when I was younger what the sun would do to my skin as I aged I would have protected my skin and limited my exposure.  Thank God science has evolved significantly and there are many products and treatments available to help minimize the damage.

My diet also plays a significant role in the look of my skin.  Hydration, at least 1 ½ gallons of water a day, no processed food and following a clean, healthy diet are key.  I exercise daily and make sure I get plenty of sleep, at least eight hours.

We all have a choice to make in life with regards to our health and well-being.  We only have one body and it has to last our lifetime, no exchanges or refunds.  So why not invest in yourself.  When people look at me I want them to see the best me I can possibly be and so I’m willing to make the investment in myself and take the time to care for my body.  I think I’m worth it, aren’t you?
